Egyptian folk-singer Hakim has officially signed with Alam El Phan Production Company, and the first album to be produced is the soundtrack to his new movie “Ali Spicy.”
The music channel Melody, which belongs to Alam El Phan, has already begun airing songs and mobile ring tones for Hakim, in addition to advertisements for his upcoming appearances.
According to the London based Elaph, Hakim declined a very generous offer from Rotana production company, to be part of an Egyptian company instead.
The premier of the film “Ali Spicy,” starring Hakim and actress Summaya Al Khashab was launched in Cairo.
The film, produced by the Arab Company for Production and Distribution, is Hakim’s entrance into the acting world.
Although, “Ali Spicy” has not been witnessing great success, generating its lowest profits during the first week of screening, and the film may not be shown in Egypt much longer.
The plot centers around a medical student and passionate singer named Ali, who attempts to heal his patents with music.
Ali is from Saeed, a conservative part of Egypt, and must lie to his father, when he has not completed his degree. He tells his father he is already a practicing a doctor, when in reality he is seeking the right opportunity to become a superstar.
The film sends out negative messages about the music industry, depicting questionable techniques used by some artists to become famous and the negative influence of the media.
Film critics claim Hakim’s performance was poor, but a good showing for his first film.
