The relationship between Lebanese singers Haifa Wahbi and Ragheb Alama is considered a very stressful one and the two are constantly at dispute with one another. The two singers repeatedly make statements about one another sparking disputes the latest being by Ragheb, who talked ill of Haifa just days before a scheduled performance for the two.
Ragheb’s recent remarks about Haifa were out of place and as usual after making them he tried to make amends by saying he was misunderstood.
After Haifa’s recent participation in Doha for Qatar’s Independence Day celebrations last month, Ragheb had said that Lebanon only bore one Haifa and she is one of a kind. Days before his statement, Ragheb has remarked that if Haifa had auditioned for the talent show Arab Idol, which he is one of the judges on, he would never let her pass for her lack of singing talent.
As usual, Haifa expressed her disappointment towards Ragheb’s remarks and vowed vengeance against him. Haifa stated that she will make a public statement against Ragheb on one of the local Lebanese television channels, despite the fact that the two singers are scheduled to hold a joint performance on New Year’s Eve at the Biel Mall in Beirut.
The production company ‘Rotana’ has sent a warning to the organizing company of the event stating that Haifa did not receive their permission to hold the performance and legal actions will be taken if she insists on making her performance. It is not known until this point if the organizing company will take the warning by ‘Rotana’ into consideration especially since Haifa had already posted an advertisement on her official page on Facebook for the event.
