The Abu Dhabi satellite channel will air a new Khaliji (Gulf countries dialect) drama series called “Laila,” staring Haifa Hussein and Ibrahim Al Zadjali.

The series is written by Dr. Laila Abed Al Aziz and directed by Amer Al Hmood.

“Laila” is a social story about a woman in her early 20’s from an impoverished family.   Her father marries her off to an older man for economic security.

A condition for the marriage is that “Laila” will give birth to a baby and will leave the baby with the father.

According to the London daily Elaph, “Laila” faces resentment from her new husband’s entire family because they wanted him to marry someone from their own class.

Laila responds with loving gestures. The message of the new series is that by being patience you can achieve anything, and refers to the proverb that love comes after marriage.

The filming of the new series took place in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Jordan and the drama series consists of 30 episodes.
