Most tabloids have been writing about the engagement of Lebanese singer Haifa Wahbi to Saudi tycoon Tareq Jafali and then their breakup, without any official announcement from either side to verify the validity of all the rumors.
Finally an official press released was given from Haifa’s managing office confirming her separation from Tareq, without stating the reasons behind the breakup. According to the London based Elaph, Haifa did not state the reasons due to the fact that she felt the matter is a private one and as a form of respect to Tareq.
Recently, it was rumored that Tareq had abruptly called off his engagement to Haifa. Sources revealed that Tareq took this step as a result of pressure from his family, who insisted that he leave Haifa, stressing that she would not make a suitable wife.
Haifa only recently announced her engagement to 29-year-old Tareq, after a love affair that lasted several months.
The couple held a private engagement party, in which he presented her with a set of diamonds and a 2004 Porsche, valued at 250 thousand US dollars.
Haifa announced her engagement on her reality television program “Al Wadi” (The Ranch,) on which the singer raised her right hand to show her engagement ring to the participants and the audience.
