Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel Raziq has defended herself after she was attacked for her comments saying that actresses of her generation have refused roles that require nudity or seduction, saying that during the Eighties, actresses would often appear in lingerie and underwear.
Ghada stressed that she wasn’t attacking the stars of the day who would remove their clothes for the camera and she holds the actresses who did suche scenes in the highest regard and often wishes that she had the courage to bare-all for scenes like her colleagues, who today are all too easily insulted rather than respected as they were three-decades ago.
The Egyptian star was asked about the difference between acting in scenes involving seduction today and in previous generations. She explained that in previous decades the actress would be treated fairly and no negativity would be shown towards the actress, whereas today, critics, the press and the public would place the women under intense scrutiny.
Ghada was speaking at an honorary ceremony held on her behalf by Egypt’s Lions Club for her role in the critically acclaimed television drama “Ma Sibiq Al Israr” (With Prior Insistency) that was aired during the past Ramadan season.
