ALBAWABA - George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Clooney officially become French citizens.

An official order seen by AFP on Monday says that Hollywood actor George Clooney and his wife, Amal Alamuddin Clooney, and their two kids are now citizens of France.

The release in France's government gazette confirms Clooney's plan for privacy laws, which he discussed earlier this month to protect his family from paparazzi.

"I love the French culture and your language, even if I'm still bad at it after 400 days of courses," the 64-year-old actor told RTL radio at the time—in English.

"Here, they don't take photos of kids. There aren't any paparazzi hidden at the school gates. That's number one for us," he said.

The US-French citizen has had a long connection to Europe that goes back before his 2014 wedding to Amal, a British-Lebanese human rights lawyer who is skilled in French.

Clooney bought a beautiful property in the Lake Como area of Italy in 2002, and he and Amal bought an old mansion in England.

They own an apartment in New York and a house in Kentucky, but they have sold homes in Los Angeles and Mexico in the past ten years, according to reports.

They bought the Domaine du Canadel in 2021, which is in southern France near the village of Brignoles. It was once a wine farm.

The beautiful couple has 8-year-old twins.

George Clooney told RTL that although the family jet-sets around, their French home "is where we're happiest."

George Clooney has two Oscars: one for best supporting actor in "Syriana" in 2006 and the other for "Argo" in 2012 as a producer. He is also a director and producer, so he can put his awards on whatever mantelpiece he wants.

He also makes millions from famous endorsements, like Nespresso, and got a huge amount of money for selling his share in a tequila brand.

It's not just George Clooney who wants to go French in Hollywood: On France Inter radio, US director Jim Jarmusch said he also wants to become a French citizen.

"I would like a place that will allow me to escape from the United States," he said, adding that he was also attracted by French culture.
