Gay Arab celebrities condole with victims of #PulseNightClubShooting

The LGBT world and its allies joined in mourning on Saturday night when a bigoted act of violence claimed the lives of club goers in Orlando, Florida. Pulse, considered one of the most popular gay clubs in Orlando, was gunned down by Omar Mateen, who stole the lives of 50 people and injured 50 others.

Hamed Sinno, the main singer of the popularly provocative Lebanese indie band, Mashrou Leila, took to Twitter to share the beauty and heartbreak of being a queer Arab American Muslim in today’s world.

Iraqi, German, Palestinian Lebanese author, Salem Haddad took to Facebook to share a photo of Arabs in drag and sharing a message of condolence and solidarity. Haddad’s had just debuted his novel “Guapa” which captures the life and struggles of a gay man living in the Arab world.

The grandson of the late legend Omar Sherif also expressed his solemness for the victims and their families, joining the Arab LGBT communities and their allies in mourning to the fallen victims of the homophobic hate crime.
