Algerian singer Fullah is gathering star power as she comes closer to releasing her new album, which will include a number of the most famous songs by the late Saudi artist Talal Maddah, such as Magadir (Destinies), according to the Saudi daily Al Riyadh.
“The album will honor the late artist, whom I consider as a real singing school and a unique, great teacher,” Fullah told the daily.
Regarding her turning down an offer to sing in the Egyptian dialect, the singer said, “Giant singers have come out of Egypt, but I personally seek to enhance the dialect of my country. Why sing for the world in the Egyptian dialect? I want the world to hear me singing in my country’s dialect.”
“I am an Algerian artist who likes her country and whose task is to convey her country’s folkloric heritage to the Arab World. What is the use of making a lot of money by using the Egyptian, Gulf or any other dialect, without achieving my aspirations?” added Fulla.
The Algerian singer has recently released an album entitled Tashakkurat (Thanks).
Fullah was discovered in the late 1970s by the musician Siraj Omar, prompting her to take his name, Omar, out of appreciation – Albawaba.com
