Nawara, Tok Tok, Abadan Lam Nakon Atfalan (We Have Never Been Children) and Leilet Hob (Night of Love) are the Egyptian films participating in the Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival, which opens on 26 March.
Nawara will compete in the main competition for long features, which includes 12 films from the Mediterranean region.
The story centres on a woman in her twenties who works as a housemaid at a big villa in a luxury compound.
Nawara is to premier in Egypt when it will open the 5th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) that runs between 17 and 23 March.
Actress Menna Shalabi received the best actress award for her role in the film at the 12th Dubai International Film festival (DIFF), where the film had its Arab premiere, and was one of five Egyptian films in competition for the Muhr Awards.
TokTok by Romany Saad and We Have Never Been Kids by Mahmood Soliman will both compete in the documentary section.
Tok Tok was screened at the 37th Cairo International Film Festival and BBC Arabic Festival.
We Have Never Been Kids won best non-fiction feature at Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) where it premiered, with the Best Director prize going to Soliman.
The documentary follows the life of an Egyptian woman dealing with divorce and raising her four children amid continuously shifting circumstances.
Night of Love (Leilet Hob) competes in the short films category, with 13 other films. The film is directed by Helmy Nouh and won Best Director Award at Zawya’s short film festival.
