First Syrian Iraqi Series Depicts al Mutanabbi’s Life

Syrian actress Mona Wasef has agreed to participate in the first common Syrian-Iraqi TV series al Mutanabbi which depicts the life history of the renowned poet Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi, according to the London-based daily al Sharq al Awsat. 

Director Elia Ekhbashi will start shooting the series produced by Abu Dhabi TV channel and al Saqr al Arabi Co., during April. 

Costarring in this huge production a large number of Syrian, Iraqi and Lebanese actors and actresses, including Bahjat al Jbouri, Sami Qaftan and Suha Salem, from Iraq. 

Meanwhile, Syrian actor Salloum Haddad is currently gearing up along with the Syrian director Haitham Haqqi and writer Mamdouh Odwan for a new drama which also depicts the life history of the poet Abu al Tayyeb al Mutanabbi.  

“I was supposed to star last year in a big drama series about the Arab renowned poet al Mutababbi but as everybody knows the immense preparations and production arrangements for this series have prevented me from wrapping it up as scheduled. I hope the audience will see a top notch drama on the life history of this poet and his relations with the society and the circumstances that led him to excellence and creativity,” Haddad told the UAE daily al Bayan.  

Haqqi has nominated Egyptian actor Noor al Sherif to perform the role of Saif al Dawla al Hamadani in the historical television series – Albawaba.com
