Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred's family and fans grew more concerned about the star's future, just as news of a second lawyer stepping down from his defense team came to light last week.
Over the weekend, lawyer Aicha Ansari decided to follow in Ibrahim al Rashidi's footsteps by leaving Saad's case in the hands of his two remaining lawyers, Eric Dupont-Moretti and Master Jen-Marc Férida, reported Moroccan online newspaper Yabiladi.
Earlier this month, al Rashidi said he can no longer represent Saad at his pending "aggravated rape" case, pointing out that he is "finding it difficult to travel back and forth between France and Morocco at such an extensive level," seeing as he has ongoing lawsuits and clients to represent in Morocco.
Ansari happens to be al Rashidi's wife, whose decision to resign, was, as many believe, influenced by her husband.
Saad has been in pre-trial detention at the Fleury-Mérogis prison since the 26 October, 2016.
