Egyptian actor Farouk Al Fishawi has paid a local businessman 34,000 pounds to settle a bad check case.
Fishawi paid Mustafa Salameh to resolve a case that could have landed him a three-year jail term.
In view of Fishawi's move, his trial was postponed until June 25 and referred to the felony court, which will dismiss the case when a reconciliation is achieved.
Fishawi told Akhbar Annujum magazine that he had also started to settle bad check lawsuits filed against him by 14 other people.
The actor’s lawyer and nephew, Fahim Al Fishawi, confirmed that the case of the musicians who accused Farouk of fraud was still under investigation by the prosecutor general, but would soon be settled.
A general assembly meeting for a real estate company headed by Fishawi was held without its musician members, according to reports.
The general assembly, the lawyer said, authorized Fishawi to continue or halt the company’s housing projects, or return the land to the 6th October City authority, the original owner of the plot.
The general assembly also gave Faouk the option to accept the bids of companies that had applied for partnership to rescue the indebted company and its staggering projects, the dire situation that first prompted the musicians and others to file suit against the actor to claim their money -- Albawaba.com
