Lebanese diva Fairouz is back in the UAE to hold an elite performance at the Emirate Palace in Abu Dhabi, considered one of the most luxurious hotels in the world.
According to the London based daily, Dar Al Hayat, tickets were sold out the minute the prestigious event was announced, which took place on May 19. Attendees include people from around the world – Australians, Americans, Canadians, and Europeans, in addition to Arab VIPs.
A chorus of over 50 accompanied the singer and the performance is said to be closed to the press.
In March Fairouz held a charity concert in Dubai which drew over 1000 people.
The American University of Beirut has announced that it will award Fairouz an honorary PhD degree for her tremendous contributions throughout her career.
She is considered the ambassador of all Lebanese singers and a role model.
Fairouz recently held a charity concert in Montreal, which drew Canadian, American, and European fans. Her performance was lauded and left the audience calling for more.
While in Canada, Fairouz recorded the new single “Baiti El Isgheer” (My Small House), written by her daughter Rima Al Rahbani and composed by Louise Gaste.
The single was produced by ‘Planet of Performers’ production company, which also sponsored her concert.
The new single and a CD containing her greatest hits were offered at the performance, which came as a delightful surprise to her fans. Concert goers clutched photos of the diva and donned shirts displaying her picture as they gathered eagerly to catch a glimpse of the now Dr. Fairouz.
