After an absence of singing in Paris for more than 14 years, Lebanese diva Fairouz performed two concerts in the French capital last Thursday and Friday. The singer moved between the old and new songs calling people to put their sadness aside and giving them hopes of return.
The concert began with introduction “87” by Ziad al Rahabani which was acclaimed warmly by the audience. Then Fairouz entered the three-story Bleyel Hall in which the audience stood up applauding for her. She sang Zahrat al Madaen followed by Ya jisran Khashabiyyan as if she was setting priorities in these historical circumstances which the Arab World live.
As in every concert, Fairouz surprised her audience with the song Emmi Namet A’a Bakkir from Bayyaa al Khawatem operetta and then sang Sabah Wa Massa, Daa Khelei Ya Sabi and Shtaatillak.
The second part began with Urs (wedding) introduction by Ziad al Rahabani to be followed by a song from Fairouz's album Wella Keif entitled Ana Fazaaneh. She then sang Maarifti Fik and Bizkker Bil Kharif which had its exceptional influence due to its original French cadence. The song Saifon Falyushhar was the last song for Fairouz which surprised both the Arab and French audiences who raised their hands with the victory sign. The audience stood up calling their star to sing again. Fairouz returned five times to sing parts of songs for Palestine.
