Lebanese diva Fairouz has denied recent circulating rumors that she plans on holding a concert in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cairo. The singer stressed that no one has requested her to sing in Cairo and there are no current negotiations with any sponsors.
According to the Egyptian based weekly, Fairouz added that if she were to hold a concert in Cairo or anywhere else, it would be publicized throughout the media and not just one newspaper. The singer made her statements during a private press conference she held in Lebanon, which was more like a tea part with journalists.
Fairouz has just celebrated her 70th birthday among family members and a group of very close friends. Her friends followed their yearly tradition of making thousands of CD copies of her most popular songs and passed them out to fans.
Recently, Prominent Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi was anxiously trying to convince Fairouz to sing a duet together. Majida has sought Fairouz’s close contacts and requested that they try and convince her with idea.
Majida believes that a duet with Fairouz would definitely be a successful one with regards to the great popularity both singers hold around the Arab world and abroad. Majida is hopeful that attempts to convince Fairouz will succeed and the two can begin working on a song that will be one of the highlights of the music industry.
