Egyptian director Ibrahim al Sahen is currently filming the first scenes of the series Balad al Mahboub (beloved country) based on the story of Yousef al Qaeed, scripted by Mustafa Ibrahim and costarring Nermin al Fikki and Wael Noor.
“The series is a continuation of what I offered in my series Wagaa al Beaad (remoteness pain) as it tackles the period in the seventies after October War through Salam who fights in the war but as a result of injury he returns home psychologically upset. Because he finds his beloved girl married to another person, he decides to go to Europe seeking a job there. He returns after three years to get involved in mysterious events and become accused of madness,” the scenarist told the daily al Gomhuria.
Ibrahim added, “In my works I am keen on showing the political returns effects on the social aspects as was the case in the series Wagaa al Beaad where the impact of the political changes on the Egyptian countryside emerged during economic openness. The series Balad al Mahboub depicted the impacts of October war on the Egyptian youth and so we should look for the roots in order to reach a solution for our problems.” -- Albawaba.com
