Egypt's chief censor, Madkour Thabet, declared that he has finished with the preparation of a cinematic encyclopedia that contains information about all the films based on Naguib Mahfouz’s novels.

“The encyclopedia will be issued in four volumes, each of them is composed of about 800 pages,” Thabet told the London-based daily Al Hayat.

Thabet who directed the film Suwar Mamnua’a (Forbidden Photos), 1972, based on a novel by Mahfouz, explained, “my relationship with the prominent writer has established long years ago, therefore, I decided to prepare the encyclopedia to be a reference for researchers, students and all people who are interested in Mahfouz’s works and the cinematic and TV adaptations of his novels.”

In 1988, Naguib Mahfouz was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature – Albawaba.com
