According to a verdict issued by a Cairo offence court the Egyptian controversial director Enas al Deghaidi was announced innocent in the case raised against her.
The case involved accusation of curse and defamation of girls in Egypt in Deghaidi’s latest film Muthakkarat Murahiqah (Adolescent Memoirs), according to the London based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
The court called upon the director to distance herself from some statements, which harm the Egyptian women because this harms the Egyptian society as a whole.
The court said, “the director has not harmed Egyptian girls directly when she described them as crossing the red lines as was stated by one of the actresses of the film.”
Earlier an Egyptian lady filed a lawsuit against Deghadi and called for halting the film screening. She accused Deghaidi of cursing and defaming the Egyptian girls.
The court judges saw the film completely and the defendant’s lawyers said that Deghaidi did not mean defamation. They added, “what she tackled was some sort of artistic gestures which indirectly warned the girls against committing taboos -- Albawaba.com
