A private jet, former property of King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley, has been auctioned off for $430,000 at Agoura Hills, California. The plane, privately owned, had been sitting on New Mexico tarmac for 30 years.
The plane was originally estimated to go at around $210000. The final price was about a sixth the estimate.
The name of the buyer was not revealed.
The plane, a 1962 red Lockheed JetStar, sold without an engine. It did, however, come with red velvet seats, a shag carpet, and woodwork which, according to the auction house, were designed by Elvis.
At least one previous owner has disputed these claims, however, claimingj that the jet, as it was in 1962, had a two-toned gray interior and was reminiscent of a casket.
Two other planes once owned by Elvis are on display in Graceland, the late singer's estate: Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II.
