She wasn't taking a stand on human rights or making a political statement, Elissa was just grumpy and late but the actions of one singer have caused chaos in the Gulf state where she appeared.
The Lebanese lovely was set to attend the Arab Jewelry Exhibition in Bahrain over the weekend but she missed out on the offiical opening, shunning a photo op with the country's prime minister. Elissa apologized but Bahraini fans were less than impressed with the national insult and the fact that the songstress couldn't be bothered to chat to them when she did eventually turn up.
It wasn't just fans who were upset either as Elissa also refused to let photographers take her picture once she got to the event. But reporters got their revenge, calling the Lebanese star a 'donkey' - an extremely offensive term in the Arab world. Another told her: "As if I want to take pictures of someone like you", when she refused to let him take the picture.
After her disastrous trip to the Gulf state, Elissa is unlikely to be returning any time soon: the Bahraini press described her as being 'conceited' and said she was unwelcome in the kingdom.
