Egyptian actress Elham Shahin is gearing up for starring in a new film in which she plays the role as a nun. Screenwriter Mohsen Zayed is currently scripting the film to be directed by Munir Radi.
“This immense film is the response to what is going on now in the Palestinian lands. The heroic actions of the Palestinian people must be documented in a large number of cinema works because we will depict an important phase of the struggle carried out by our Palestinian brothers who lack the basic foundations of cinema industry in their country,” Shahin told the London-based Arabic daily al Sharq al Awsat.
Shahin has another film entitled A’laina al A’wad, which has been put on the shelf for four years despite the fact that she considers it one of the best among her films. She won the prize for best actress at Alexandria Film Festival through this film.
Commenting on the recent rumors that said that Shahin mulled marrying for the third time after the failure of her two previous marriages. She says, “I am a human being before becoming an artist. I may have wrongly chosen my partner or I was not fully aware of marriage facts to a man who was many years elder than me. Marriage is stability and all females seek stability with men who love them. I wished to be a successful wife for one man but everything is destined. I don’t perceive my previous two experiences as bad; on the contrary I benefited from them very much and learnt a lot. Now I am not thinking of a third or new marriage as I am dedicating my time for art.” -- Albawaba.com
