Egyptian actress Elham Shahin returned home from Vienna after she had been honored by the Egyptian embassy there and the Cultural Relations Department.

A special week was designated during which six of her films were screened including Ya Donia Ya Gharami, Dantella, Ayyam al Ghadhab (Days of Anger) and others.

“The welcome accorded to me by the Egyptian community in Austria was beyond description. I never imagined to have such a position inside the hearts of Egyptians and Arabs who call me star of romance,” Shahin told the daily al Gomhuria.

She added, “on the second day of my visit, the Arab communities rallied in a demonstration and asked me to participate with them. They requested me to be in the first lines and deliver a speech about Palestine among 4000 demonstrators. I responded to them and my statements were translated into English.”

“I am gearing up for shooting a film based on a story by Esaad Younes under the direction of Magdi Ismael. Costarring in the film will be Samah Anwar, which will mark her first return to the cinema. Samah directed a TV series after her sabbatical due to the accident but she has not performed any role after the accident. We have not agreed yet on the name for the film, which is about a friendship between two women whose ambitions do not materialize. They decide to run away in search for dreams but because failure is always waiting for them, they decide to commit suicide. I am also gearing up for another movie under the direction of Said Marzouq,” added Shahin -- Albawaba.com
