Egyptian censorship committee demanded the approval of Al Azhar for the new TV series “Azwaj Al Haja Zahra” (Al Haja Zahra’s Husbands) starring Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen. The censorship’s request for approval by the Al Azhar is due to the fact that the series revolves around the life of a woman who practices polygamy, which is prohibited in Islam, according to the Saudi based daily Al Watan.

Elham will be playing the role of Al Haja Zahra and will practice the act of polygamy by marrying one man after the other without letting them know. The actress commented that this issue has been a common one these days and her reason behind accepting the role is to warn woman of such occurrences.

Shaheen hopes to get the approval of the series for she believes it will be a turning point in her acting career. Scriptwriter Mustafa Muharam who also wrote the script for last year’s Ramadan drama “Al Haj Mitwali” writes the series.

In June the Egyptian actress starred in a new film in which she plays the role as a nun. Written by Mohsen Zayed and directed by Munir Radi. The film was a response to what is happening in the Palestinian lands.

Shahin has another film entitled “A’laina al A’wad”, which has been put on the shelf for four years despite the fact that she considers it one of the best among her films. She won the prize for best actress at Alexandria Film Festival through this film.

Elham is an actress who exudes warmth and tenderness. She smiles often, and carries herself with the grace of a superstar. Elham emerged in the 80's as a gifted actor after a stunning role in the film "Al-Aar" and critically acclaimed performances in "La Tassallny Man Anna," "Al-Sayed Eshta" and "Ragol fi Eyoun Emrah". - Albawaba.com
