ALBAWABA - Eid al-Fitr 2026 film season begins with comedies, crime stories, and one chilling horror release.
The Eid al-Fitr 2026 film season is heating up in theaters, with four new films starring famous actors and stars premiering tonight. This comedy season also has one horror film. Some do not expect it to smash box office records, especially since the season is only one week long, and audience turnout is projected to fall when students return to school and regular classes resume.
The Eid al-Fitr film season begins with the comedy "Barshama," rated 12+ and starring Hisham Maged, Mustafa Gharib, Reham Abdel Ghafour, Hatem Salah, Bassem Samra, Arfa Abdel Rasoul, Faten Saeed, Kamal Abu Raya, Michel Milad, and Fadwa Abed. Ahmed El Zoghby and Sherine Diab wrote the script, and Khaled Diab directed the film.

The film "Barshama" is set on the day of the Arabic language exam at a high school (home-study) center. The proctor dies during the exam, and the students attempt to cover it up in the hopes of cheating. The difficulty is that no one has the solutions. Amidst the chaos, we see a high-achieving student obsessed with discipline; the mayor's son, incredibly dim-witted but determined to succeed at any cost; a dancer pursuing a degree to work abroad; a sixty-year-old woman aspiring to increase her pension; and a desperate ex-convict seeking success to marry. The exam becomes a comic disaster as a result of crazy plans and confusion.
"Family Business," a comedy starring Mohamed Saad, Ghada Adel, Donia Sami, Heidy Karam, Ahmed El-Rafei, Mahmoud Abdel-Moghni, and Osama El-Hady, is also part of the Eid al-Fitr film festival. It was written by the 3Bros Workshop and directed by Wael Ehsan.
The film Family Business depicts a disadvantaged family attempting to become wealthy through petty theft. After nearly being imprisoned, the father chooses to give up crime in order to provide a better life for his children. However, he realizes that reality provides no actual opportunities. He then devises a novel strategy: instead of stealing money, each family member covertly works at the home of an enormously affluent family, with no one knowing the connection. They live under the same roof as strangers and are regularly confronted with the dramatic disparity between their reality and that of their employers. As tensions grow and moments of dark comedy erupt, a pivotal occurrence threatens to reveal everything, leaving everyone with the uncomfortable question: Can a happy ending truly be built on deception?
Rated 12+, a comedy starring Ahmed Malek, Salma Abu Deif, and rapper Marwan Pablo in his acting debut, is also playing on Egybest. Marwan Abdel Moneim directs, and Ahmed Hosny writes.
The film "EgyBest" is based on true events and chronicles the tale of the creation of the "EgyBest" platform, which transformed the world of intellectual property rights in the Arab region.
The narrative begins in an alley in Cairo's Al-Marg area, where two friends decide to turn their passion for movies into a digital revolution, bucking industry rules to construct a piracy empire from the ground up that outperformed all expectations.
Finally, the picture "The Tagamoa Killer," classified PG (16+), combines horror and crime.
Mohamed Salah El-Azab wrote and directed the film, which stars Ahmed El-Fishawy, Nour Mahmoud, Sabreen, Cynthia Khalifa, Entisar, Jessica Hossam El-Din, Mariam El-Gendy, Aya Selim, Lina Sofia, and Ghofran Mohamed. The Tagamoa Killer is the story of Karim, a killer who grew up alone and looking for himself. He takes pleasure in rebelling against his family. Years later, he forms a relationship with a gorgeous girl, which leads him to perpetrate a string of murders against several women.
