Egyptian singer Ehab Tawfiq has stressed that his reciting the Athan, Muslim call for prayer, had been a dream of his for many years. The singer added that he always feared that if he sang the Athan many would consider it a taboo and reprimand him for doing it for the mere fact that he is singer and not a clerk.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Ehab said that the idea of singing the Athan is a new one that no one had thought of doing to avoid harsh criticism. He added that thankfully there is positive feedback from people with regards to his reciting the Athan.
With regards to his recent religious album, Ehab denied that he will stop only sing religious songs from now on, but rather it was an album he enjoyed presenting and may repeat the experience in the future. Ehab also denied that the religious album was created to please the Muslim Brotherhood, who are trying to gain control of Egypt.
