A number of Egyptian composers have criticized Algerian singer Warda’s insistency on continuing her singing career after the failure of her latest album “Ili Daa’ min Umri” (The lost years of my life). The composers stated that if Warda wanted to keep her image and respect of fans she needs to quit her singing career.
Egyptian composer Hilmi Bakr said that when he listened to the album, he could not recognize the Warda he always knew except through two songs, and even then the words of the songs did not suit her. Hilmi added that the success of an album is based on its records sale, which is what Warda’s album did not achieve. The composer stated that the album degrades Warda and is not suitable for her in any way.
Hilmi said that Warda is a very experienced singer and she has a prestigious career and was capable of choosing better songs that suited her, stressing that she should have worked with song makers that are more experienced and know her full potentials.
Other composers stated that when a singer reaches a certain age he/she should resign to maintain their status and image in the minds of their fans.
