The famous Egyptian actress Zubaida Tharwat passed away on Tuesday evening, the family of the 1960s cinema icon announced.
According to her family, Tharwat’s funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon.
Born in 1940, Zubaida Tharwat started her career as an actress as a teenager after winning a beauty contest in a teen magazine.
Graduating from the Faculty of Law at Alexandria University, Tharwat starred in over 30 films in her career before quitting the showbiz altogether in the early 1980s.
Zubaida Tharwat's most famous films include Fi Baituna Ragol (A Man in our House) with Omar El-Sherif and Rushdie Abbaza and Youm Men Omri (A day of My Life) with Abdel-Halim Hafez.
Zubaida Tharwat married five times and had four daughters with her second husband, Syrian producer Sobhy Farahat.
Her resemblance with academy-winner Jennifer Lawrence helped her old photos from the 1960’s to recently go viral on social media.
