The Egyptian Censorship Committee has complained about one of the scenes in the new Ramadan TV drama series series "Mas'alit Mabda" (A Matter of Principle) starring Egyptian actress Ghada Abdul Riziq, which features a dance scene that is too seductive and intimidating. The committee stressed that such a scene is very inappropriate especially during the holy month of Ramadan and therefore they demanded that it be removed.
It was revealed that a number of viewers had also objected to several other scenes in the drama played by Ghada, especially the scene of her in a swimming suit walking by the pool.
Director Khairy Bushara, underwent his first television directing experience, after experiencing a long line of success in cinema production, in the new TV series "Mas'alit Mabda" (A Matter of Principle) staring Ghada. The new drama revolves around the issue of illegal weapon smuggling, terrorism, and the increase of violence in one of Egypt's rural areas.
The drama also tackles an incident of killing tourists by some of the locals which lead to an outbreak in the community. Khairi is to begin shooting the scenes for the drama in October after the script and cast are finalized. The story is written by Mohammad Safa Amer and is to costar Riyadh Al Khouly, Abo Baker Izzat, Mona Shalabi, and Hisham Salim.
The series’ Egyptian Ibsharah, had demanded that Riziq goes on a strict diet in order to fit her role in the series. The actress plays the role of a dancer, and therefore her figure must be suitable for such a part.
Ghada had reacted to the condition of the director with the utmost openness and has in fact begun a very strict diet. Ghada added that she also underwent extensive exercises to become fit. The actress noted that her role in this Ramadan’s contest show (Fawazeer Ramadan), also requires that she is slim and fit in order to be able to perform different dances.
Ghada’s new Ramadan contest show revolves around the issue of marriage and how these days less people are able to find their match and let alone able to afford getting married. The show attempts to tackle the issue through providing a special service over the internet which allows for single people to join in the hope of finding their perfect match. Every episode will focus on a specific couple and will attempt to help them get together and get married.
Throughout the contests show that is like a semi-drama series, Ghada’s character comes to a point where she realizes that she too is a victim of becoming a maiden and the marriage train may have already passed her by. In her attempt to avoid being single all her life, she begins to look through all the male contestants who have signed their names as seekers of a perfect match and tries to find the one that suits her most.
When asked about taking on any new seductive roles as her usual style, Ghada replied that she is trying to refrain from the role of the seductive and sexy woman in movies and TV series, not wanting to be limited to such parts. She added that she plans on taking different roles to prove to directors that she is capable of playing any part she is given. - Albawaba.com
