Artists Nelly Karim and Nadine are training along with the Cairo Opera ballet troupe to perform Al Qursan (Pirate) at the third Shanghai International Art Festival, according to Akhbar Al Nuggoom magazine.

The team is gearing up to leave for China early next month to perform the ballet, which was designed and directed by Abdel Mine’m Kamel, for five days .

Three performances will be at the Beijing Theater, which can seat 2,700 people. The troupe will perform for two days at the Shanghai Theater and then will tour the other Chinese cities for the same purpose.

The Shanghai International Art Festival is considered one of the most famous international events of its type. A variety of performances are staged at the festival including ballet, opera, theatrical dancing, jazz music and opera.

International troupes are usually keen on participating in the festival, despite the fact that it only began in 1999. The present festival will be attended by 23 troupes from all over the world.

The participation of the Cairo Opera troupe has come as part of the art protocol recently signed between the director of the Egyptian Opera House, Samir Farag, and Uan Shi Hwhy, director general of art and cultural Projects at the Chinese Ministry of Culture – Albawaba.com
