Egyptian artists sent a letter to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, protesting the UN's stance toward the war in Lebanon waged by Israel.
The artists called on Annan to resolve the humanitarian crisis and to insist on an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon.
According to the London based Elaph, the letter stated that Annan should not give the green light to Israel to continue its ruthless attacks on Lebanon or Palestine, despite the United State's unwavering support for the Israeli aggression.
The artists organized a rally in front of the UN Regional Office to show their support for the two nations and their opposition towards Israel's aggression against civilians. They also condemned the US and the UN's inaction.
The letter described Israeli's massacres of civilians as "terrorism" in both Gaza and Lebanon.
Izzat Al Alali, Yahia Al Fakharani, Hussein Fahmi, who has submitted his resignation as UN Goodwill Ambassador opposing the UN's position, and head of the Artists Union, Ashraf Zaki, are amongst the artists that toll part in the campaign.
The letter asserted the UN's role should be to promote justice and protect human rights.
