The actress Fayrouz, who was called ‘the miracle child’, has passed away at the age of 72.
Bishop Botros Danial, head of the Egyptian Catholic Center Cinema, and actor Ihab Fahmy, member of the Actors' Syndicate board, announced the death of Fayrouz on Saturday, following her deteriorating health. She had suffered from liver and kidney trouble.
Fayrouz acted in 10 movies during her career, the last of which was in 1959 at the age of 16.
Fayrouz was married to writer and actor Badr Eddin Gamgoum. They have a daughter and a son.
