Head of the Cairo International Film Festival actor Ezzat Abu Ouf vented that the absence of American actress Angelina Jolie from the festival was just plain wrong. After intense negotiations with Angelina’s managing company, a definite refusal to accept the festival’s invitation was sent .
Ezzat said that the Jolie's letter to the festival was as follows, “Egypt is going through very harsh moments; you are killing each other in the streets and conditions are very unstable ...even the borders of the country are chaotic,…”
Ezzat stressed that the letter angered him tremendously and placed him in a very embarrassing situation because there is a very important segment of the festival which is to honor international foreign artists. After Angelina’s apology letter, he was forced to look for a replacement.
