Donia Samir Ghanem has joined Elissa as a judge on the X Factor Arabia this year, and although rumors claimed that the two don't get along, Donia invalidated them with a recent statement she made about the Lebanese superstar.
The Egyptian singer and actress described Elissa as "chic with a great wardrobe." But while some still thought that the young starlet is jealous of her colleague, Donia said, "I'm going to try and stay true to who I am as much as I can," implying that she wouldn't copy Elissa's style.
"I'll make an effort not to look different to the way my fans have gotten used to seeing and loving me. But even if I do end up looking a little bit different, I'd want to still recognize myself when I look in the mirror," the 30-year-old added, according to Al Jaras magazine.
As for her new job on the talent singing show, Donia said, "The X Factor doesn't just depend on the contestant's voice, and that's what makes this show different. I depend on my experience as an actress to evaluate the contestants' talents.
"My first album was a great success and the proof is that I'm a judge on an international show in its Arabic version. I spoke to Simon Cowell over the phone and he seemed really pleased to have me on board, which made me really happy in return."
The X Factor Arabia airs every Saturday at 18:00 GMT on MBC4 and MBC Masr.
