Prominent belly dancer Dina is in the process of making a strong comeback to the entertainment world, and has accepted a role in the new TV drama (Friska) directed by Majdi Ahmed. The drama is costars Athar Alhakim, Izzat Abu Ouf, Laila Fawzi, Shoki Shamekh, Khairia Ahmed and others. This is Dina’s first participation in a TV drama after her sexual scandal with her ex-husband, Egyptian businessman Hussam Abu Fotouh who had recorded a home video for her in inappropriate positions and released it to the general public.
According to London based Elaph, Dina denied that her scandal is still haunting her life, stressing that life goes on and she has to focus on her career once more. Director Majdi Ahmed had chosen her for the role because he liked her natural way of acting, stressing that her role in Friska is a very important one. Dina is playing the role of a girl called (Ikhlas) in front of Athar al Hakim who is doing the role of (Shams).
The story revolves around two friends, Ikhlas and Shams, both of them are poor workers in one of Alexandria’s factories of Friska. Then the story describes Iklas’s (Dina) journey from rags to riches. The whole story begins when Ikhlas discovers her talent in belly dancing and ends in her becoming a famous movie star. During her journey to success, she marries two men and has two children; and finally ends up marrying her business director. The drama ends with tragic events happening to the couple. The story takes place from the early sixties and goes up until the nineties. During the whole drama there is only two dancing scenes that Dina will perform; the first will be when she discovers her talent in belly dancing, and the second when she becomes a professional belly dancer. The scenes are to be filmed in both Cairo and Alexandria.
Dina asserts that belly dancing is the passion of her life, and that she will continue dancing until she retires, adding that she had spent lots of time and effort to be a professional, from her early start with the Rida band for Folkloric dancing. She added that belly dancing is an art like folkloric dancing, they all need to learn certain movements but that doesn’t mean that she can’t evolve some dances and moves, as long as you keep the spirit untouched.
Dina is currently facing trouble with her new play “Hub Ala El Zero” (Love on Zero) under the direction of Al Sayed Radi, which she plans on using to make her grand return to the entertainment world and end all circulating rumors of her resignation. One of the main actors in the play Midhat Saleh has regretfully announced that he is unable to take part in it and backed out leaving the dancer in anxious in trying to find a new replacement.
Midhat’s resignation from the play adds to the problems the play is facing, especially when a number of other actors have declined offers to star in it. The crises the play is facing will make it impossible to be ready by January 2004, which is its scheduled date of display. The director and producer of the play are undergoing urgent negotiations with actors and actresses trying to convince them to accept their offers in participating alongside Dina. No agreements have been reached so far due to the fact that the actors and actresses are placing high demands, which are difficult to be met.
Dina has been preparing a number of different dance performances to be included in her upcoming new play “Hub Ala El Zero” (Love on Zero). The dancer stressed that her new dance performances are going to hold a big surprise in which her audience will surely enjoy. Dina announced her return to the entertainment world by starring in the play “Al Hub Ala El Zero”.
Last month, Dina attended a Ramadan social gathering showing up in the arms of fashion designer Hani Abu Al Naja as her date. Despite the fact that Dina did not previously announce that any form of a love relationship exists between her and Hani, those present assured that what was between the couple is something more than an average friendship.
It was revealed that the dancer and Hani are currently involved in a very serious relationship that made lead to something more than an ordinary affair. Sources added that Dina may in fact announce her plans to marry Hani in the very near future. -Albawaba.com
