ALBAWABA - Controversial American rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested at a hotel in Manhattan, New York on Monday evening, following federal charges pressed against him, according to several American news outlets.

This all comes after Diddy received a sexual assault lawsuit and a federal investigation after a grand jury indicted him. Moreover, Diddy's lawyer suspected that the rapper was arrested over racketeering and sex trafficking, as reported by The New York Times.

US attorney Damian Williams said on social media, "We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time."

Diddy's legal team shared their disappointment with the judge's decision to prosecute him and stated that he was so cooperative with their investigation that he relocated to New York City last week because of the charges made against him.

One of them said, "He spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community" and that "He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal."

Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested Monday night at Park Hyatt Hotel by local police at around 8:30 PM where he will be held and then released for a court hearing.

In March, federal law enforcement officials raided Dddy's houses in Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami due to several sexual assault and human trafficking accusations being made against him.

Reports indicated that the investigation has intensified following a fifth sexual assault lawsuit served in February, which includes allegations of sex trafficking.
