In an embarrassment for Lebanese singer Maya Diab, the director of her new music video for the single, “Shiklak Ma Bitaraf” (You Seem not to Know) , has delayed the launch even after the press had been invited. Saeed Al Marouq apologised and has taken full responsibility for the delay.
A press release stated, “After you had been cordially invited to attend a grand ceremony for the release of the new clip “Shiklak Ma Bitaraf” by Lebanese singer Maya Diab and which she has given me the responsibility of directing and producing, I am regretfully informing you that the release of the clip has been postponed due to technical reasons that are out of Maya’s and my control. But our aim is to present a music video of international standards and I personally take all the blame for the forced delay of the clip, which the singer has nothing to do with and I also apologize for placing her in an embarrassing situation in front of the media after having invited them to the launching ceremony of the clip.”
Saeed added, “I promise all of you (Referring to the media) to announce a definite launch date for the album once it is ready according to all the technical standards. I thank you all and am grateful for your understanding.”
News reports have suggested that the cost for the new music video to be over $1 million, causing further embarrassment for the duo, as many industry insiders say that with that amount of money being spent, delays should not occur.
