Egyptian belly dancer and actress Dina revealed that she was embarking on a collection of poems of her own writing and hoped to wrap them up in order to be exhibited at Cairo International Book Festival next session.
“I wrote most of the poems when I was at the secondary stage of education but I added to them some poems at later stages. These poems are a mixture of classical Arabic and local dialect,” Dina told the London-based Arabic daily al Sahrq al Awsat.
The multitalented artist pointed out that she began her hobby of poem writing when she was young and she was enjoying reading these poems at the school ceremonies. She then had no time for poetry due to her engagement in dancing which she took as a profession.
Commenting on the refusal of the Egyptian Ministry of Education to give her a permission to establish a private institute for training girls on belly dance, Dina said, “I made every effort to get the license but I failed despite the fact such institutes are known and spread in Europe and girls there enroll in their programs in big numbers.”
Dina asserted that she would develop the idea into establishing a school for teaching belly dance through the Internet in order to provide any girl willing to learn dancing with the appropriate guidelines based on sound foundations -- Albawaba.com
