A Cairo court has dismissed and rejected the divorce case of Marwa Ibrahim Shaheen against her husband Egyptian singer Hakim and ruled in his favor. The decision was made with regards to the fact that not enough sufficient evidence was found against Hakim for his wife to ask for a divorce.

According to the Kuwaiti based daily, Al Rai Al Aam, Marwa had filed a complaint against her husband for not paying child support and alimony since June 2002. She also demanded he pay the wages of five servants in addition to their children's school tuition that amounts to 7100 US dollars.

The court found Hakim not guilty of negligence towards his wife and children, with proof that he paid all due child support and alimony. The court also found Marwa's case not valid due to the fact that when she filed the complaint against her husband for beating her, her father had accompanied her as the only eye witness, in turn making her complaint invalid.

Hakim's wife filed for divorce in November last year, following her husband's act of betrayal with his so-called second wife. Marwa expressed resentment to her husband's 'unbearable' acts, which started a year ago with his frequent absence from home. "He used to leave us behind with no money, he showed no attention or care to me or his two kids," explained Marwa.

It was stated that Hakim had assaulted his wife in a furnished apartment at the upscale neighborhood of Azzamalek, as she walked in on him and his secretary whilst 'in the act', which he later claimed to be his second wife.

Marwa told the newspaper that she insists on the divorce even if Hakim apologizes in all magazines and newspapers, "my decision is final and I'm not going to give up any of my legal rights, which might amount to one million pounds in financial compensation," said Marwa. – Albawaba.com
