A Lebanese court has postponed the hearing for the lawsuit filed by Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim against the chief editor of the magazine Nadine until January 27, 2005. The court had postponed the hearing due to the fact that the chief editor did not attend the scheduled hearing and only Suzan’s lawyer was present.
Tamim had filed a lawsuit against a Lebanese magazine for publishing wrongful information in the attempt of ruining her image. Suzan demanded that the chief editor of the magazine be prosecuted and fined 33 thousand US dollars as compensation for the damage he caused her.
Suzan also demanded that an apology be published in the magazine and that the verdict also be published in three different Lebanese newspapers, in an attempt to clear her name from the hurtful rumors that were said about her.
According to the London based daily, Al Hayat, the court will hold a hearing for the case on November 4, 2004 and will set a verdict. The magazine, whose name remains anonymous, had published many hurtful rumors about Suzan saying that she had kicked her mother out of her home and had a nervous breakdown.
Recently, the Egyptian Interpol arrested Tamim after a request was sent by the Lebanese Interpol. Egyptian authorities are still negotiating handing Suzan in to Lebanese authorities. Suzan’s indictment by Egypt’s Interpol was based on the Lebanese request, but she was then released after the Lebanese Embassy in Cairo ordered her acquittal. Adel Ma'touq, Suzan’s former business manager filed a lawsuit accusing her of stealing 350 US dollars and fleeing to Egypt. – Albawaba.com
