The Middle East is set to show its funny side in this year's choice of Eid al-Fitr movies.
A selection of the region's actors will see fans through to the end of Ramadan, with comic favourites starring alongside some more surprising choices.
Following his starring role in 'Tamious wa Shafeeqa', popular actor Ahmed el Sakka is once again hanging up his action boots and trying comedy on for size in his lead perfromance in 'BABA'.
Egyptian actor/singer Hamada Helal has followed suit, turning his hand to comedy in 'Mr. and Mrs. Owiess.' The musical plays to Helal's vocal strengths and shouldn't be too much of a stretch for the star's acting abilities either, as he plays the part a young man who becomes a famous singer - something he should know a thing or two about!
After a long absence from the scene, actor Mohammad al Hunaidi is back with a new look in the movie 'TETA RAHIBEH'. The comedy illustrates the social struggle between different generations, and also gives Hunaidi the chance to experiement with an 'edgier' look as he dons glasses and long hair for the role.
On a more serious note, 'Sa'a wa Nusf' sheds light on the wide spread corruption during the previous regime in Egypt with performances from some of the country's favourite actors.
Dealing with similar themes, upcoming movie 'Febrayer Al Aswad' touches on the corruption in Egypt in the days of Mubarak. But, with just days to go until Eid it's a race against the clock to get it finished on time. With some scenes still yet to complete it looks as though the film's cast and crew including actors Ahmad Zaher and Tarek Abdul Aziz, and director Mohammad Amin, will be working for the rest of Ramadan.
What film are you most looking forward to this Eid?
