Cher has compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler and other ‘old despots’ such as Joseph Stalin.
The singer, 70, also criticised the UK over Brexit during a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Massachusetts.
‘I know that if he [Trump] got into office, our world would be the worst place,’ she said.
‘I don’t think we could imagine how bad it could get.’
Cher warned that Republican candidate Mr Trump’s slogan, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was a pretence for a more divisive goal, it was reported in the New York Times.
She said: ‘He means, “We want to make America straight and white”. I just think he’s an idiot.’
The star also criticised Britain for leaving the EU. ‘These people just screwed themselves so badly because they were angry and they didn’t think it could get any worse,’ she added.
