After a seven year absence, Fayrouz is back.

And she's marking the anniversary of her husband’s passing with “Lameen” (“For Whom”), a song she's releasing 31 years after his death. The song is the first off her album Bebalee (“On My Mind”), releasing September 22nd.

It's a surprisingly playful song from a wonderfully enduring voice; Fayrouz is now 81 years old and has lost exactly zero power.

The song is based off of Gilbert Becaud’s “Pour Qui Veille L'Etoile,” with the lyrics penned by Reema Rahbany (the couple’s daughter) and the music arranged by Steve Sidwell.

Assi Rahbany, the singer’s late husband, passed away in 1986. He was an acclaimed composer, musician, and producer, half of the acclaimed team the Rahbany Brothers. His brother, Mansour, away in 2009.

Here's a preview of the song posted by Reema. It's already available for purchase on iTunes.
