A common phenomenon in this year’s Ramadan drama series marathon is the participation of three belly dancers in four different works. This fact simply implies that the profession of belly dancing is not enough for most women with the influx of foreign belly dancer especially in Egypt.
The new phenomenon also implies that acting has become an essential activity for every dancer, even though she may be very successful in her line of work.
The main belly dancer that has achieved the most success in debuting into acting is prominent belly dancer Fifi Abdo, who has excelled in most of the television dramas she starred in.
The second belly dancer who has entered the field of acting is controversial Egyptian belly dancer Dina, who is currently playing a secondary role in the Ramadan television drama “Raya and Iskeena” alongside Egyptian actresses Abla Kamel and Summaya Al Khashab. Dina also took part in other dramas in addition to film three years ago.
The drama is based on the folktale of two sisters who kill women and steal their jewelry. Dina was nominated by director Jamal Abdul Hamid to play the role of a woman who is accused of acting as an accomplice to murder.
Dina denied rumors that she presented a set of demands before accepting to take part in the drama. It was rumored that Dina demanded a high wage and wanted her name to appear at the beginning of the credits.
Dina is considered the only dancer who practices her original profession on a regular basis, but makes it a point to accept different acting roles.
