A new season of the popular satirical sketch show “Spotlight” is in production in Damascus and will tackle the country’s “crisis” head-on, one of its creators said Sunday.
State news agency SANA quoted actor and writer Bassem Yakhour as saying that the show would “focus on the country’s crisis” and be aired during the month of Ramadan, which begins in late June.
“Today, we need to clarify things and pull no punches,” Yakhour said.
The show, now in its 10th edition, has appeared nearly every year since its 2001 debut. SANA said conditions in the country did not permit its production last year.
