The Egyptian movie star Elham Shahin managed to retain her title as Queen of Prizes after she has recently secured the prize for best actress in the Middle East Oscar poll.
“I am very happy for obtaining the prize particularly it was for my works which I offered this year and last year. These include the films Desire, Enjoyment Market and Life Craziness. I consider myself as fortunate because I cooperated in implementing these projects with three prominent directors including Ali Bader Khan, Samir Saif and Said Marzouq and three prominent screenwriters including Mustafa Moharram, Wahid Hamed and Rafiq al Sabban. In fact my work with these big names was the reason behind my nomination for this prize which asserts that I am on the right track as far as cinema is concerned,” Shahin told the daily al Gomhuria.
She added, “I received an official invitation from the Arab World Festival in Paris to participate in the festival as guest of honor along with the actress Nadia al Gondi and Ali Bader Khan with the film Desire which will be screened outside the official contest. I am very happy to go with a distinctive and honorable film, as the role I played in it is one of my most important roles. This year is the year of my good luck as I have been honored in Vienna where one week was designated for my films in addition to securing the prize for best actress.”
“This year I will participate in the Radio and TV festival with the two series: My Brainchildren and al Koumi which were aired during past Ramadan. If I win a prize at this festival I hope it will be for my work with late director Yahya al A’lami as a kind of honor for him,” said the actress.
Away from her career, Shahin admits that she is miserable and unlucky in love and that she put aside the idea of getting married -- Albawaba.com
