Director Hani Ishmael has begun filming the first scenes of the upcoming television drama “Imra’a Waheeda” (A Lonely Woman) starring prominent Egyptian actress Athar Al Hakim. Athar plays the role of an ideal lawyer who strives to defend the rights of victims and the innocent.

According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, Hani revealed that he has begun filming the outdoor scenes of the drama in the neighborhood of Al Dokki until one of the studios at the ‘Media Production City’ is available.

Athar is also taking part in the film “Ightial Ahlam Bare’a” (Killing of Innocent Dreams) alongside prominent Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi. The film is written by Mamdouh Al Said and directed by Mohammad Abdul Aziz.

In the film, Athar plays the role of a university professor who insists on holding onto her ideals, which places her in a dangerous situation. Throughout the course of events, individuals who are against her liberal ways of thinking attempt to assassinate her.

Athar has withdrawn from the leading role of the upcoming television drama series “Kanadeel Al Baher” (The Lighthouse) after a dispute broke out between her and director Ahmad Khader.

Athar stated that she had agreed to filming, on the condition that she takes over the revision of the script during its implementation. The revision includes studying the characters, the plot, and the details of the drama, which is a basic routine followed in production, Athar explained.

Khader argued that the responsibility of revising the script was his, in order to match the theme of the story.

In the end Khader overlooked her suggestions, and the script was different from what Athar expected, leading her to withdraw.
