With Eid Al Fitir being just around the corner, many Arab singers have already made deals with sponsors on where they want to perform during the Islamic holiday. Among many who will perform are Asalah Nasri and Saber Al Rebaa’i. The two singers will host a live concert at the Sheraton Hotel in Beirut the first day of Eid al Fitir according to the London based Elaph.
This Eid celebration will witness a number of new albums by Arab singers. Most singers have kept off the release of their new albums until Eid, as to debut their new songs at their concerts adding to their anticipated success.
Al Rubaa’i plans to come out with a new look and style in his upcoming album, a collection of romantic songs that will show Saber in a new light that is expected to captivate his fans.
His warm voice combined with simple lyrics and modern music, in which Rebaa’i modernizes Tunisian folkloric songs, make him a rare commodity in a climate where more emphasis is placed on the marketability of the music than on vocal virtuosity. His previous albums’ lyrics express a wide range of emotions, from understanding to anger and hurt, it's the versatility of Rebaa’i’s voice that makes his songs touching and even thought provoking.
Syrian singer Asalah Nasri is planning to present her fans with a new song for the prominent Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. The song, which will be one of the highlights of her upcoming album, is to be composed by Kamal Al Taweel, although an agreement has not been finalized. According to the London baed Elaph, Asalah is currently on a visit to Lebanon.
Asalah is known for being a highly emotional singer. Her silky, multi-layered voice enables her to improvise and helps sustain her individuality and reputation as one of the leading Arabic singers today. She continuously creates variations on the melody (arabesques), while her voice perfectly hits high and low quarter notes. –Albawaba.com
