Prominent Syrian singer Asalah Nasri confirmed receiving death threats from the Syrian government due to her publicized support of demonstrations calling for the resignation of President Bashar Al Asad and his government.

Asalah stressed that she greatly fears for the wellbeing of her children and prays that they are not harmed in any way.

Asalah said that the threats were portrayed in a very demeaning manner and foul language was used against her entire family including her parents.

According to the internet website MBC.net, Asalah added that her mother is struck with fear and advised her to change her mind about her position and denounce her support of demonstrators. Asalah insisted sticking with her position of refusing to accept the killing of innocent people who are calling for their democratic rights to be met regardless of the circumstances.
