During its latest session held this week in Cairo, the Second Arabic Theater Festival honored the Libyan artist Khaddoujah Sabri in appreciation for her long and creative career on the Libyan stage for more than 21 years.
“I was honored in Libya before but honoring abroad particularly in Egypt has a special taste, the fact that prompted me for more responsibility. Egypt honored me in 1998 at Cairo Radio and TV festival and I will never forget the honoring night for ever,” Sabri told the daily al Gomhuria.
The Libyan actress said, “I was in Egypt by chance when the operetta al Kuds Hatergaa Lana (Jerusalem Will Return to Us) was being performed at the Opera House. When I was invited to participate with the Egyptian artists in this major patriotic production, I welcomed the invitation because that was the least I could offer to the Palestinian issue particularly after the latest developments.”
The actress pointed out that there would be cooperation between the Egyptian and Libyan stages soon. “I made an agreement with Hani Mutawe’ to perform a joint show which will be presented before the upcoming festival session in which we will participate.”
“Although I am a stage actress, the majority of the prizes I won came from the cinema and TV. In the latest festival held in Iran, I won the bronze award for my film al Wajh al Akhar Lil Qamar (The Other Face of the Moon),” said Sabri.
She added, “when I return to Triply, I will participate in the drama festival with two films produced by the Libyan TV. The first film is entitled Khoyoot Rafia’h (Thin Threads) and the second al Salalem (Ladders). These two movies have been nominated to participate in the upcoming session of Cairo Radio and TV festival.” -- Albawaba.com
