Most actors in Syrian have been left in an almost impossible situation. As stars of the Arab world, they are often asked their opinion on the terrible situation in their home country but by speaking their mind and staying in Syria, they leave themselves open to kidnapping, or worse.
Levantine lovely, Amal Arafa, has kept schtum for many months and despite the civil war, has continued to film scenes for her TV drama. But last week the rumors began that Amal had started talking about the security situation and her politics.
The Syrian actress has hotly denied the reports, saying she has specifically kept silent as a sign of respect to lives lost and presumably to keep herself out of trouble.
Amal told reporters: “Whoever is spreading lies about my devotion to my country: I say I dream that Syria will return like it was once before without violence and instability. I call on everyone to try and put out the fires that are causing so much destruction and not ignite it by spreading lies that only create more tension between people.”
